Return of the Viper

I’m such a slacker. I cannot express how annoyed I am at the fact that I haven’t posted on here since March 26th! Dearie me, what a let down. However, I am back and I really do plan to stick to it this time. I can tell you are all desperate to hear what I have been up to, so here goes.

Firstly, and probably the most important thing that has occurred in my life lately is that I have a new job! Yep, you heard me right, I am no longer working at Lush. You are probably thinking thumb_IMG_1801_1024that I’m mad to give up that job, but in all honesty when it really comes down to it, working at Lush is just a retail job and I’m really not the biggest fan of retail work. Three years was a pretty good run with the company and I made some fun memories of course, but the time came where I needed to move on. Now heres the exciting part; I am now working for St John Ambulance as part of their events team! I am loving my new job and the hours are much better suited to me. As someone who writes, blogs, makes videos and all the other things I attempt to cram into my life, it’s great for me to have my evenings and weekends free.

My novel writing is going well. I now have a concrete plot-line and characters. I spent some time putting together a concrete plan and I re-discovered my motivation for writing. Expect a finished first draft by the end of this year!

My YouTube videos have been extremely successful and enjoyable lately. I am making mainly book related videos, I feel that this makes more sense as it is a subject that I am passionate about and can talk about for hours. It also ties in well with my book writing and I’m using YouTube to document my novel writing. Bex Viper on YouTube

I have started a book club! It’s something I have wanted to do for so long now and I finally took the plunge. It’s still early days but there has been tons on interest, so I’m pleased. If you would like to join the book club then follow this link: Books Bloody Books

I don’t have much else to add on here other than the fact that I did go sober for a month! It was the detox that I needed however, now I’m back on the occa17799093_10206782950252823_1817104917970282624_nsional gin, of course. The plan is to keep up with this blog, using it to document things that interest me, things I want to express and just a place to post general ramblings.

Thanks for reading this rather pointless post and I’ll be back soon!

My Bloody Valentine

“Roses are red
Violets are blue
Let’s stay in
and watch Nosferatu.”

I have never been one for Valentine’s Day celebrations if I’m honest. Okay, I’ll admit in the past I have surrendered to the Hallmark invented holiday and celebrated with partners and, of course, enjoyed it at the time. Nowadays I just see Valentine’s Day as a day for companies to make money; surely that’s not what it should be about? This year will be my first Valentine’s with my other half but I’m going to stand firm with my inner Scrooge and let the day bypass me like any other Tuesday. At the end of the day, as disgustingly cheesy as it sounds, I love him all year round, not just on a day that society throws upon me; I will not conform!

I always thought that the big V Day wasn’t really my thing, after all, I’m quick to cringe and make gagging noises when my friends are soppy and always go out of my way to heckle couples who insist on PDA-ing in front of me, I swear I’m not mean, but there’s a time and a place guys! However, after a quick Google, I discovered there is a side of Valentine’s Day that’s designed for weirdos much like myself, who’da thunk it?!

My favourite discovery was these vintage horror themed card designs:

Unfortunately I was unable to hunt down the source of these dreamy card designs; if anyone knows then please pop it in the comments below!

I also discovered a whole page full of horrifically romantic messages for you to just print off and hand out to whoever has stolen your heart this year:

You can find the rest over at: Thought Catalog

The more that I am researching, the more I am feeling the need to partake in Valentine’s purely so that I have an excuse to creep people out with these amazing cards and whatever else I can find; perhaps I will just give out a few anonymously and really freak out some innocent victims

Rest assured there are still plenty of vomit-worthy cards out there for you lot who love to revel in the soppiness of February 14th. Of course I’m just kidding; the way the world is at the moment I think everyone is in need of a little loving; Enjoy it!

Happy New Year!

2017 has hit us faster than anyone could have imagined! I hope you all had a frightfully good end to this not-so-great year?

I have never been one for New Year’s resolutions if I’m honest however, there are things to tick off on my achievements list.

This year I have tons of different projects I want to work on and maybe even complete; one of those projects is going to be starting this new blog and hopefully keeping up to date with it! I previously had a blog over at http://bexpiper.blogspot.co.uk/ but I feel that it’s a tad outdated now and not really to my taste anymore. On that note, bring on the era of Bex Viper!

My plan for this blog is to post about various things that intrigue me such as; anything spooky, vintage, vegan or whatever else finds it’s way into my brain. I would like to keep it up to date and hopefully post about three times a week, but don’t hold me to that!

Anyway, if you would like to keep updated, you can follow this blog via email – the link is on the right. I would really appreciate the support.

Thanks!
